Both Solar micro inverters and Solar power optimizers accomplish the same objective, in that if a leaf should fall on one solar panel the rest continue to operate.  Solar Arrays that use Micro Inverters, convert DC electricity at the Solar Panel.  Each Solar Panel is equipped with a Micro Inverter.

When a solar array uses Power Optimizers, a Power Optimizer is attached to each Solar Panel.  DC electricity that is produced from the Solar Array, feeds a central DC Inverter.  This inverter converts the DC Power to AC power that you can then use.

These are two different different system types that you can chose from, each has its own characteristics.
